About Haroldine

My career has always centred around people.

From hospitality to personnel environments, and later working closely with individuals navigating medical challenges, one pattern became clear to me: unprocessed trauma quietly shapes lives. It influences confidence, relationships, decision-making, and the ability to move forward.

That understanding led me to trauma recovery work.

Through Potch Trauma Recovery in Potchefstroom, I provide structured, person-centred trauma recovery support for adults and children who are ready to address difficult experiences and move forward with greater clarity and strength.

I am not a psychologist or psychiatrist, and I do not provide psychological diagnosis or psychiatric treatment. My work focuses specifically on structured trauma recovery methods, including Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), where the individual remains in control and sets the pace throughout the process.

Every person’s story is different. My role is to provide a steady, respectful space where you can work through what happened safely, without judgement and without being defined by it.

SPEAKING & EVENTS

What Is Trauma?

Many people assume trauma must be extreme or headline-worthy.

The reality is that in South Africa, difficult experiences are part of everyday life. Crime, accidents, loss, medical crises, and relationship breakdowns are not unusual. But “not unusual” does not mean insignificant.

Just because something happens to many others does not mean you should be unaffected.
And it does not mean you should have to deal with it alone.

Trauma is not defined by how dramatic an event looked from the outside. It is defined by how your body responds to it.

If certain memories, sounds, places, or conversations trigger reactions you cannot control — sudden emotion, anger, anxiety, tightness in your chest, tension in your body — that is not weakness. It is your body signalling that something has not been fully resolved.

Trauma recovery is about reducing that emotional intensity so your present is no longer controlled by your past.

If this resonates with you, you are not alone.

And you do not have to stay in survival mode.

Recovery is possible.
